چکیده
Abstract Objective As neuropsychologists adopt virtual assessments in the context of COVID-19, field is shifting toward teleneuropsychology. Comprehensive remote evaluations are proving to be feasible and reliable across domains, though traditional fine motor (FM) tests cannot administered virtually. In absence direct FM measurement, this cross-sectional study considered whether universal recommendations appropriate for patients with pediatric brain tumor (PBT). Method Dominant z-scores were obtained from 176 PBT (x- age at diagnosis evaluation = 7.3 12.8 years, respectively). There no significant differences between Lafayette Grooved Purdue Pegboard performances. location (46% infratentorial), chemotherapy (71.6%), gender (52.3% male) analyzed. Results The sample as a whole performed over 2 SDs below normative expectations, t(175) −14.7, p < 0.0001), more pronounced deficits among infratentorial (x-= − 2.4) than supratentorial 1.7) tumors, F(1,174) 7.1, 0.008. Consistent prior findings, worse when treated 2.3) without 1.7), 16.2, 0.0001. Time since was negatively correlated performance r −0.27, 0.001. While not apparent overall, post-hoc analyses revealed impairment 89% males 75% females by middle school. Conclusions Given likelihood concerns (particularly school), should offered even measurement evaluated Accommodations (e.g., note copies, typing/dictation, abbreviated assignments, extended time) free/easy implement can incorporated into medically based Section 504 Plans, while early intervention may mitigate long-term effects.

Evaluation of the Relationship Between Fine Motor Skills and Demographic Indices in Students With Hearing Impairment
Purpose: Human hands, thanks to their fine movements, are efficient tools to work, play, and do daily life activities, especially in students with specific requirements such as the ones with hearing impairment. Methods: Thirty-two students (14 males and 18 females) with hearing impairment with the mean age of 8.43 years participated in the current research. The present descriptive-analytical s...

introduction: human hands are efficient tools to do fine works, game, and routine activities, which are of greater consideration in students with special needs, including hearing-impaired students. materials and methods: this descriptive-analytical study was performed by cross-sectional method on 32 hearing-impaired students with age average of 8.43 years old in hamedan in the academic years 20...
متن کاملThe Neuroimaging Center of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium-collaborative neuroimaging in pediatric brain tumor research: a work in progress.
As an essential part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-funded Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), the Neuroimaging Center (NIC) is dedicated to infusing the study of pediatric brain tumors with imaging "best practice" by producing a correlative research plan that 1) resonates with novel therapeutic interventions being developed by the wider PBTC, 2) ensures that every PBTC protocol in...
متن کاملSpectral Variability in the Aged Brain during Fine Motor Control
Physiological aging is paralleled by a decline of fine motor skills accompanied by structural and functional alterations of the underlying brain network. Here, we aim to investigate age-related changes in the spectral distribution of neuronal oscillations during fine skilled motor function. We employ the concept of spectral entropy in order to describe the flatness and peaked-ness of a frequenc...
متن کاملStatistical Motor Unit Number Estimation Assuming a Binomial Distribution
The statistical method of motor unit number estimation (MUNE) uses the natural stochastic variation in a muscle’s compound response to electrical stimulation to obtain an estimate of the number of recruitable motor units. The current method assumes that this variation follows a Poisson distribution. We present an alternative that instead assumes a binomial distribution. Results of computer simu...
